Goa is visited by millions of tourist every year.There are so many places in Goa which are famous as tourist spot.But there are some places which are worth to be visited by tourists but very few people know about them.one of such place is the 3 kings church in the cansulim village about 15m from velsao in south Goa.

The 3 kings church is situated at Cuelim hill.The church is famous for the feast of 3 kings celebrated every year on 6th janaury.

Get here before sundown and you will be treated to a mind numbing sunset and spectacular 360 degree views of Goa. From here you can see the ocean and the palm trees that border the beach stretching below from Velsao all the way to Colva and beyond which is close to a 20 kms. stretch!

Located on a hill off the coastal road that goes from Velsao all the way to Cavelossim this place is truly off the beaten path though not all that difficult to find really.

This church is mostly closed in the evenings but you can walk around and enjoy the fantastic views plus the peace and quite. This location is visited by locals and the odd tourist only. The legend of the church is also a tale the locals love to tell and basically centers around the premise that no one who has ever gone up to the church for a visit on the night of the Three Kings Feast (January 6th) is ever seen again. Though hearing it from me in just these few lines certainly doesn’t do the story any justice. It’s best heard over a lovely dinner with the locals and a nice drink 🙂

It’s an unmarked road and a really steep ride/drive to the top of the hill but well worth it. Photographers be warned you will have too much of a good time. If you are here after sundown make sure you have a torch and that the lights on your vehicle are working as there are no street lights so……should you run off the road, there probably won’t be anyone coming along to help for a while nor will anyone hear you as the entire area around this hill is uninhabited.

Should you be here during the morning hours and if you are lucky enough to see them, the Air Force fighters follow a flight path that takes them screaming directly over the church and straight out to sea..so,so,so,so close above you that you can wave to the pilots..and then watch them do a roll..just plain sweet!!

According to some people this church is a haunted church.It is said that long time ago there were 3 portuguese kings living in goa.they often used to fight to gain power in the land but they were tied by the portuguese diplomacy between rulers policy.one of the kings(king holger alvunger) one day invited the other two kings in his place and poisoned them to death.he himself fell out with the public and commited suicide by consuming poison.king holgers place is the current 3 kings church in goa,where there have been reports of sightings and general unrest.

However this is one of the most scenic spots in Goa.It is worth climbing the hill and getting here since one can get a breathtaking view of surrounding lush green regions and the Arabian sea,and if u go there before sundown u will be able to enjoy a mind numbling sunset.the 3 church is one place to enjoy peace and wonderful natural beauty.The place isn’t established as a tourist spot but it is still visited by many tourist and nature loving people.It is a paradise for photographers as well.so do visit this magnificant place and preferable in the evening so that you can see the awesome view of sunset from the top of the hill.
